How to Survive the holidays without gaining weight

It is possible to get through the holidays without gaining weight but you should put a plan together to keep you accountable.

Try these top 10 tips

  1. Beware of temptations before they strike-Drink 16 oz. of water 30 minutes before going to a party or event. Fill up on non-starchy vegetables before you leave the house.

  2. Never starve yourself all week or all day prior to an event, you will lose your will-power when you deprive yourself. Instead be smart and stick to a menu plan leading up to an event or party.

  3. Practice conscious indulgence and choose one thing to indulge in, not dessert and alcohol during the same event.

  4. Always bring a healthy side dish to any party, that way you know there is at least one thing that's on the healthy side.

  5. Never eat by the buffet table you will keep grazing, instead allow yourself one plate of food and stick to that, no seconds!!!

  6. Alternate your cocktails, drink a full glass of water or seltzer water in-between cocktails. Alcohol carries almost the same amount of calories as in fat per gram. The extra calories are stored as fat.

  7. Fill up half of your plate with non-starchy vegetables, imagine a paper plate as a reference. The other half of the plate should be filled with protein so you are full.

  8. If you want dessert stick with those made of fruit and have a small portion size.

  9. Make sure to get a great workout the day of the party or event.

  10. After the party is over don't feel guilty, just do better the next day. You live life once so enjoy a conscious indulgence every once in a while.

If you follow these tips you should stay the same weight throughout the holidays. E-mail me if you would like some tips for after the holidays to lose weight or reach your peak performance.
